GW2 Guilds
What do you think will happen in GW2 concerning guilds? I am sincerely hoping they introduce many more cool features and bonuses to help guilds and their members. The only thing Im worried about is guilds being disbanded in transfer.. It would be really expensive to reaquire all the members, allies, and npcs/halls, capes for current guilds if this is so. Does anyone have any ideas as to what they will do?

Because most of us don't have a life and we like to speculate, only to be totally wrong
This is tricky and has to be carefully dealt with. If they transfer alli's, that means the kurz/lux faction will have to go with it.
Or they can not transfer, and leave the faction system in gw1. If this did this, it would cause mass anger, and riots across the world. Nerds would uproar.
I say transfer, with lux/kurz faction, but make it so you can only earn it in GW1.The only problem here is after the realse of GW2, Cathan will be emptier then Brad Pitts brain. This would make it so HzH was worth 1k kurz faction.
Tricky situation.

Ugh.. its called moving from one game to another, not bringing ALL you're Guild Wars #1 stuff over to #2.. i simply don't understand why people fail to see that this is a new game, and that we are moving onto Guild Wars 2 from Guild Wars 1.

I do not fail to see that. However, it is still called GUILD WARS and people in established guilds (good ones) will jujst make the same guild over again. My point is that it will happen with Anets help or not, but it would be nice if there was some assistance.

As a leader of a guild, i think that the following should be carried over:
- Name
- Cape
- Hall (Or choice of new free one)
- NPCs
- Free admission for existing members
To be completely honest, i dont want to start farming in GW2 right away, just so i can admit members that were already in the guild. Now, why would these carry over? Easy explanation. In a world, a guild can last as long as it want, thousands of years. Leaders and members would change, but the guild is not going to dissapear. Sounds right to me.

Or, they could just remove the money involved with starting a guild.

This, i disagree with. We would have way too many guilds running around. Having a full hall and everything should be something that you feel like you accomplished as a leader.

We don't already? It's very rare for me to find a guildless person these days.
Inviting members (as well as guests) is what needs to be free. Money shouldn't stop you from adding more friends. You can keep an initial charge for starting a guild as well as buying all the amenities.

We had that and it didn't work out that well. Imagine being guildles monk in ToA or THK outpost... you go AFK for 30min and when you come back you have 15 guild invites.. yeah, wasn't all that fun for me.
But I agree with you that we already have way to many guild running around.

I will ask about carrying over the guild name. I know that there is a lot we would like to do with the concept of guilds and you can count on great support for guilds in GW2!
As for the other requests, well, I'm in a guild too, but asking to carry over the things we've earned from GW into GW2 is no different than asking to port our ascended characters, is it? Free guild halls, free capes, free NPCs, free membership? Personally, I would not make those requests. It'll be up to the designers, but beyond having more options and choices and opportunities with my guild, I expect that in the new game, we will be earning many of those things afresh. And frankly, I think that working together to achieve those goals is a great unifying effort and brings guilds together.
It's a new game, and while we're going to do a lot in support of existing players, in my opinion it's appropriate for some things to start over with the beginning of a new game.

thanks for the response gaile...
One thing though, as we are supposedly adding GW2 to our existing GW accounts for character information to carry over etc, surely guild info and guild lists should carry over... hell, will I as a guild leader be able to control my guild through both games and chat to all my guildies from either game?
basically, i want to know if i can chat to my GW's only guildies whilst i am in GW2 and vice versa?
but on that note, I'd like my current guild cape, name and guild hall (although I'd really like to see a more mature 100/200 yr older version of my guild hall) to carry over for all of my loyal guildies

I love the idea of GW2 carrying over our accomplishments and basically creating a whole new history for the game. I think things like huge PvP battles that took place in GW should be mentioned and if our guilds do carry over that their history should be carried on as well.

What about the GvG guilds who will lose thier Gold/Silver/Bronze trims they worked soo hard for? It's a high possiblity GW1 will become a ghost town so why just shove all the guild achievments into the corner?

Since I havent seen this yet, will there or can there be a way to have more than 100 people in a guild, not that I need this since I like being in a small guild. This might alleviate alot of the bigger guilds from having more than 2-3 divisions. I would say if there can be a way that we can have 200 chars that might be more helpful to those bigger PvE guilds, but this is only my opinion.

While I would like to see the guild/alliance carried over to GW2 I don't see how it would be possible. We are going to have to make new characters and with that, new character names. Since nothing from GW1 is going to be carried over, it would make sense that we will have to re-form guilds and such.
I think that with guilds that want to re-form, they will all work together to make it possible.

Well it's a new game. They can compete in a GW2 tournament if they want it in the new game. You don't hear mention of divine aura or anything else carrying over either.

Since the title is ,of course, Guild Wars it would be great to improve the Guild vs Guild more, other PvP with guilds, huge improvement to guilds and to focus more guilds...
How about other guild can win the losing guilds hall or maybe just some NPCs or the ability to own an outpost with your guild (like in factions) but capturing it with fighting not faction farming...
Then maybe Alliance vs alliance battles....and by alliance i mean alliance of guilds ^^
i said word "guild" 10 times in this post O_O
